Oscars 2023 Nominee List
The 2023 awards season has brought together familiar faces (Steven Spielberg! Cate Blanchett! Viola Davis! Michelle Yeoh!) and comeback performances (Ke Huy Quan and Brendan Fraser); characters who are blue on the inside (“The Banshees of Inisherin”) and those who are blue on the outside (“Avatar: The Way of Water”). Soon, the season will arrive at its apex: The Oscars.
Nominees for the 95th Academy Awards are set to be announced on Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m. Eastern time, ahead of a ceremony on March 12 in Los Angeles.
The New York Times’s awards-season columnist, Kyle Buchanan, has written that this year’s Academy Awards races are unusually wide open. But it seems likely that at least some of the top categories will include Spielberg’s autobiographical drama, “The Fabelmans”; Daniel Scheinert and Daniel Kwan’s oddball sci-fi movie, “Everything Everywhere All at Once”; and Todd Field’s downward-spiral drama, “Tár.” (Buchanan thinks that a potential showdown between Blanchett, who starred in “Tár,” and Yeoh, who led “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” is shaping up to be the night’s most suspenseful contest.) It’s probably safe to expect appearances by “Elvis,” too, and by “Top Gun: Maverick” and “The Woman King.”
