4 People, Including 2 Children, Are Found Dead in Brooklyn Apartment
Four people, including a 4-year-old boy and a 5-year-old girl, were found dead inside a Brooklyn apartment on Friday night after the police said they responded to reports of an assault.
A 24-year-old man was in custody as of Saturday morning in connection with the attack, according to the police. The police did not say how the man, whom they did not name, was connected to the victims.
Officers responded to a 911 call of an assault at an apartment at 1590 West Eighth Street shortly after 10 p.m., the police said. When the officers entered the apartment, they first saw a 56-year-old woman with multiple stab wounds to her neck.
When officers walked through the apartment, they found the two children and a 27-year-old woman dead. The police did not give details about how the victims died or if they were related.
On Saturday, the police identified the 56-year-old woman as Fayzieva Mavlyuda. The 27-year-old woman was identified as Maftuna Khakimova, and the two children were identified as Timur Shavkatov and Kamila Shavkatova. All four lived in the same building, according to the police.
The city medical examiner’s office is investigating the deaths, according to Julie Bolcer, a spokeswoman for the medical examiner.
The 62nd Precinct, where the victims were found, had recorded three murders so far this year, according to police data.
